Happy Holidays! This is always a great time of the year to see family and friends that we don’t get to be with on a daily basis. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday. If you take a look at the calendar below, you can see we have a lot of programs and activities that are starting up and really should be a lot of fun for every one of all ages.
Blessed Hope to host Christmas Sunday Night Live
Blessed Hope Church located at 1509 M Ave (behind Theisen's) will hold Sunday Night Live, a time of singing and fellowship. The service will begin at 6:00 pm.
The public is invited to join us as we sing many of the Christmas Carols and celebrate the birth of Christ.

The Faith Baptist Church located at 911 D Ave., would like to invite the community to the Christmas Candlelight Service, December 19 at 6:00pm There will also be a Christmas Eve Service from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. The church is located at any questions call 319-472-4270

Forum to be held Saturday in Dysart
Rep. Horbach, Senator Kapucian and I (Rep. Dawn Pettengill), will be at the Gathering Place in Dysart, Saturday the 18th, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. for a legislative forum.
We will be there to hear people's concerns, opinions and ideas. The forum will also give us a chance to share the challenges we face when we go into the 84th General Assembly and our priorities.
Tree of Lights Final Lighting Ceremony tonight
The Virginia Gay Hospital Tree of Lights Final Lighting Ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. tonight. Hospital Foundation Director Mike Timmermans will join VGH leaders and board and foundation members in celebrating the completion of this year's event. The public is invited to attend.
Above the Influence meeting cancelled
After testing the roads this morning, it looks like they are pretty touchy. So I have decided to cancel the Above the Influence Coalition meeting. We will meet again on our regularly scheduled time in January (January 20th) in Belle Plaine.
Above the Influence Coalition changes location for Belle Plaine meeting
Due to a miscommunication with the Community Center in Belle Plaine, their meeting room is filled to the brim with Christmas trees and gifts, so we are unable to meet there. Kyle Spading has found us a new space for our coalition meeting.

Christmas celebrations: Things to do and ways to help others
Saturday
Brandon Church of Christ will be holding a service on Saturday, December 11 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Singing will be the Men's Barber Shop Quartet. The Remnant Dance Team will perform as well as other musical selections.
Blessed Hope Church, 1509 M Ave, (Behind Theisen's) will hold a Cookie Walk beginning at 9 a.m.
PEO to meet Monday
PEO Chapter HG will meet Monday, December 13th at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Jean Peterson.
